If you consider yourself a Crafter of any magnitude you are well aware of the the different types of glue and under what circumstances one utilizes these different types. I will only address the uses of the Glue Gun, my favorite glue delivery system. (Please read previous blog.)
The Glue Gun opened up an entire world of gluing possibilities when Robert Brooklyns invented the little beauty in 1975. Before that time we had no idea what we were missing. Now we can do a zillion and one things with this simple contraption. It's right up there with Duct Tape, which I will address at a later time.
After I'd written most of this I talked to a couple of friends and was more than a little embarrassed to find out there are different types of Glue Gun glue depending on the job. And even more amazing Glue News...there is a battery powered gun! One can truly Travel with their Glue Gun.
Please see below my suggestions for the use of your Glue Gun. Please send me any ideas you might have and I will add them to the list.
-Make a plain hat spectacular by gluing artificial flowers, leaves, ribbons, jewels to it
-Take an inexpensive or damaged picture or mirror frame and glue old costume jewelry to it
-Cover a cigar box or any sturdy box with odds and ends, trinkets, broken jewelry, Mexican milagros, anything that will give it texture then spray it gold or silver
-Glue bits of broken pottery to a flower pot
-Take an old horseshoe, tie and glue small objects, ribbons, flowers etc. If it's a gift make sure the objects mean something to the recipient
-Get a shuttle cock, used in Badminton, decorate with sparkles, feathers etc. for Christmas decorations-attach a string to the top for hanging
-Glue interesting fabric, leather strips, handmade paper into a ring to act as a napkin ring-glue more stuff onto the rings, beads, leaves, flowers
-glue fabric to foam core or an old bulletin board to freshen it up
The list is endless. Whatever you can dream, you can do....if you have your Glue Gun!
